We went to mine and Millie’s favourite hill on the weekend! – Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham.
Cleeve is such a big, beautiful hill with lots going on and lots of different areas to explore. Millie loves it here, there is so much space for her to run around and chase her ball.
There are several places to park, we like to stop in one of the layby’s just before the golf club. You then walk through a big gate past a large property on your left. From here, you can make your way up the hill along several different paths.
So, we were in Cheltenham on the weekend and needed to take Millie somewhere to get her tired out, so we could walk round town without her pulling too much.
We ended up in Charlton Park, near the lido in Cheltenham, which was quite a decent size for Millie to chase her ball in. This was our first time at this park, which is also a flood area in the winter to stop parts of Cheltenham flooding, but for this trip, it was perfect and dry so Millie didn’t end up getting muddy. There was also plenty of space for her to chase her ball, so she loved it.
Millie got to cross the boarder over to Wales this weekend, to the Brecon Beacons national park, Pontneddfechan, waterfall country.
The Severn Bore was happening this weekend, so we decided to go and watch, along with the crazy surfers who choose to get in there and surf the wave.
We stopped at a place in Elmore Gloucester, a public footpath that runs through a property where the owners allow people to park (for a small fee) and spectate on their land. We had a great view from on top of the owners docked boat.
It was Millie’s human daddies birthday today so we had some family round, this included Millie’s friend Pacha who is a playful puppy Coton de Tulear. They love to chase each other around and play fight, and Pacha likes to try and nibble on Millie’s big ears, but really they are best of friends.
It was my birthday this week, so we decided to go out for a mid week meal. The dilemma of course, was where to go?! It had to be dog friendly and we wanted something with a local cosy kind of vibe. We know Cheltenham has a lot of nice pubs and quite a few of those are dog friendly, so we headed over that way.
We ended up at a pub/restaurant called The Royal at Charlton Kings. This place was lovely, there is a big bar as you walk in with a friendly atmosphere, a restaurant area to the right and a dog friendly eating area to the left. Beautifully decorated with an open fire, and to top it off they had a dog treat jar on the bar, so they catered for the whole family.
The food was equally as good and we all really enjoyed it, even Millie who got lots of fuss and treats. We will definitely go again and I would definitely recommend anyone to go whether you have a dog or not.
The outdoor area also looked nice but as it was dark when we got there we couldn’t really tell what it was like. That’s definitely an excuse to go there again in the daytime.
